MS notes at the foot of the leaves of the first half of each gathering (excepting the preliminaries), giving fascicle and folio number, and MS catchwords at the end of each gathering (late 15th century German?). MS notes throughout in the same hand, and MS notes in a different hand in gathering [I] only. Folio numbers added to main text at outer head of leaves (numbering 1-129, [130 un-numbered], 130-268, 268, 268-298). MS annotation on cover turn-in at head of front board: M. Hartmanus Hartmani. Bibliographical references written on front endpaper, and "798", "Inc. Typ. no. 3387", "Duplum" in an eighteenth-century hand. Stamp of the bookseller Oscar Schak. =563 \\$aBinding: Sewn on four double supports, pegged into wooden boards, cushioned at the spine edge. MS fragments used as sewing guards in centre of gatherings * and M, and MS fragments used as guards on fold endleaf at each end of volume. Parchment spine strengthener pasted to the inside of the boards, six tabbed spine supports visible between endleaves and text block. Clasp chamfers, traces of nails for clasps. Beaded blue and white endbands. Covered with tawed pigskin, decorated on the upper board with a blind tooled pattern of a double panel, ruled with 5 line fillet, the centre panel decorated with a diaper pattern with roses at the crossings of the lines and larger roses, small roses, and lozenge stamps containing a botanical image, and a crowned eagle. The outer panel is decorated with large roses in the top and bottom compartments, the side compartments contain lozenges alternating the crowned eagle [?] and St Katherine of Alexandria. The lower board is decorated in a similar manner with a saltire pattern in the central panel, large and small roses only in the central panel, and the outer compartments decorated with St Katherine of Alexandria and the botanical lozenge stamp. The spine compartments are decorated with three different sized rose stamps. Attributable to the Katharinen-Meister (EBDB w000016), Heidelberg, Germany, late 15th or early 16th century; identifiable tools are St Katharine (EBDB s000725), the crowned eagle (EBDB s000728), botanical image (EBDB S000726) and the largest rose (EBDB s000736). Remains of a paper spine label in the top compartment, MS title reading "... Spira 1482". Over this a more recent book label with the number 3387. In the bottom compartment a small paper label with the MS title "Sum[m]a Azonis" and a more recent book label printed with EC and a partly erased number. Gilt arms of Maria Elizabeth Auguste von Sulzbach, wife of Karl Theodor (1724-1799), Elector Palatine and Elector of Bavaria stamped on the top and bottom boards.$5UkCU
